Supporting kids and families fighting cancer.
What Does it Mean to be #NoahStrong?
I want to tell you a little bit about my son, Noah and how The NoahStrong Foundation began……he was a high school athlete, he loved Lacrosse, playing Fortnite with his friends, Texas Hold’em, Game of Thrones, and Rap Music. He could spit out sports statistics better than any ESPN Sports commentator.
Noah was diagnosed with Stage IV Rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of 16. He battled cancer for 3 years until his body was just too tired. Noah passed on June 3, 2018 – just a few weeks after his 19th birthday.
The day Noah was diagnosed, within 24 hours, he was on the news, in the newspaper….he became Cancer’s poster child. He knew that people were watching him and how he reacted and what he did was not react. He just kept moving forward with grace, dignity, and a smile on his face, and people admired that about him. Noah never let Cancer define who he was or dictate the way he would live his life.
The most important thing I want to tell you about Noah is that he had HOPE. He had hope for his future, hope for his family’s future, hope for a better tomorrow. His hope ignited hope in everyone around him. That is how the whole NoahStrong movement began.
Noah, without even knowing, started this Foundation long before it ever became formalized. That’s where this all began, with Noah’s hope. When Noah passed away our family decided that his life, his battle with cancer, and his death would not be in vain.
We started The NoahStrong Holiday Project in 2018. We wanted to provide 30 holiday gift bags to the children at Levine Children’s Hospital. We filled the bags with Candy, Soduko Books, ear buds, gift cards and a warm blanket. We posted on FaceBook asking for donations and we were overwhelmed with the response. What has happened between November of 2019 and today has been incredible! We started raising money, people started randomly donating to us – we were not even a true foundation yet. We became a 501©3 in January of 2020.
Over the past 3 years we have raised over $25,000 and provided countless items for families in need, everything from beds, heating units, bikes and financial help. Just 5 of us, a FaceBook page, working on our iPhones and iPads trying to make things happen.
I would love for you to be part of this and help us spread hope and kindness.
