Austin Dodge’s story
Austin lives in Bangor, Maine with his mom and siblings. In August of 2023, shortly after a family vacation, Austin was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.
Two years later Austin developed diabetes from steroids, had numerous skin infections and now has suffers from anxiety & depression. Most recently he was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis in both knees from the steroids. He will be going to Boston to have his knees fixed (or replaced, if needed) after he finishes cancer treatment. He was recently hospitalized with pneumonia. Mom says they are a few months from finishing chemo which seems as unbelievable as the fact that he even had cancer at all.
Austin’s mom, Christina, is a single mom with 4 children. She had to take 3 months off work, unpaid, starting the day Austin was diagnosed and took off work every time he was in the hospital or had appointments. Mom always relied heavily on overtime, and that hasn't been feasible since Austin’s diagnosis. Christina has also had some health issues that kept her out of work for an extended period of time.
The NoahStrong Foundation was able to assist Christina and her family with assistance for their living expenses to help ease the burden of that financial stress.
